Blogs, Podcasts and Music in the Junior Classroom

Facilitated by Jane Smith (South March Public School) and Nathan Toft (A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary School) from the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.

We're prepared to help teachers learn how to or become more proficient at:

1) Creating a classroom blog with Edublogs.org
2) Using Audacity to create a podcast with students.
3) Use Audacity and Acid Xpress to create original music for inclusion in the podcast.
4) Host a podcast on your blog. Get it listed on iTunes.

Find resources on these topics at our blog/podcast: PortablePD.ca

Jane's class blog is: MrsSmith.ca
Nathan's class blog is: MrToft.ca

Our two classes collaborate on a podcast called PortableRadio.ca

Our new recorder resource for Junior level music is: PortableRecorder.ca

If possible:

  • bring headphones, microphones (or a microphone headset) and USB drive (for sound fx and music we have to share)
  • have Audacity installed on your laptop
  • have Sony Acid Xpress installed on your laptop
  • set up an account with Edublogs.org
